Walmart Greeter?

I have always stated that Lexxington's dream job would be a walmart greeter. He gets so much joy out of meeting anybody and everybody, it truly makes him happy.

On saturday, we had the honour of representing the Doberman breed at the DPCC booth at the Ontario Sportsman show ( thanks Elizabeth!!)

To make a long story short, Lexxington's job was to stand around and greet everyone that came to the booth, demonstrate some tricks, schmooze the crowd.. and did he EVER do a good job. I was a bit worried about how he would behave with SO many dogs around, its been awhile since he's been in a dog-heavy area, so I wasn't entirely confident, but he BLEW away my expectations.

He must have greeted 500 people... including kids of all ages who hung off of him at every angle, babies in strollers grabbing at his face and adults young and old, fearful and confident.

He definitely changed some opinions about dobermans, one lady in particular stated that she was terrified. Lexx looked up at her with his golden eyes of sweetness, and laid down at her feet. Looking up as if to say, "look, i'm smaller now, please come pat me?" She did tenatively, telling me how she was terrified of these dogs as a child and she'd never gotten over it. She gently patted his nose, his head and he remained still like a statue, moving only to lick her hand. She walked away smiling.

One man brought his young daughter over ( 7-8 months? Im terribly bad at judging the age of children..) in a stroller. Lexx stuck his nose in tentatively and sniffed the human puppy. She erupted into fits of giggles and started kicking her feet and moving her hands. He just stood there, little baby feet hitting his ears and little baby hands grabbing at his nose. The father got all excited and started snapping pictures left and right. I wish I could get a copy, THAT would be a good representation of the breed. Lexx seemed very satisfied with himself.

We were there for 5 hours, and by the end of the day, Lexx was DONE. He lay down, flat out on the floor, and went to sleep. Poor puppy had to work hard with all those nubbin wigglies and kisses for the strangers.

I'm so proud of my boy. He's just such a sweetheart.
